Oblivion Editor

Okay I spent a couple of hours last night relearning the The Elder Scrolls 4 – Editor by building module maps.  Unfortunately I also relearned how it doesn’t save things on a periodic basis for you and it crashed and I lost it all.

There are a few ‘issues’ with it.  It’s only good for closeups in the editor.  Regardless of the clipping distances as I pulled out things started disapearing.  So I’m not sure if that’s working as the clip was set for maximum which was 30,000 (or maybe 300,000), I forget which it was but essentially I couldn’t zoom out more than maybe 60′ of sewer tunnel before it got ugly. Â  There may be a workaround for this which is to scale everything down by 90%.

The other issue is you don’t get to see water in the toolset, only the plane the the shaders will be placed on.

As an alternative I’m going to instead reload NeverWinterNights 2 and see if I can use things in there.  The downside with NWN2 is the tile based system for interiors and the fixed sizes.  Things in NWN (1 and 2) are simply effin’ huge for interiors because of the pathing, clipping, performance issues they have with making things smaller.  So my sewer tunnels might end up being 30′ wide, not really what I had in mind.

The oblivion art assests were appreciably better and I had no trouble making the sewers the exact size I wanted.  Taking screenshots might be an issue due to parralex and perspective warping though.  But will it matter?  Not sure.

Anyway, other than some %@*@%!@%!* late last night, I have nothing to show you on this front.
