After garnering a desire to craft my player’s tower in real 3d rather than CGI 3d, I went looking for whatever the current materials. It’s been a very long time since I did architecture models back in school so I’m not sure what’s in use. Turns out it’s still bass, balsa and cardboard but now you can also use foam board. So still pretty cheap.
Anyway I found this site with some pretty embarrassingly amazing work. If I only had that kind of free time.

Awesome work man! I’ve been making terrain models for the combats in Keep on the Shadowfell…so far my players are loving it, but I’ve stalled out at the Dragon Graveyard thanks to Gencon prep and the index I was working on.
